About KIDS

KIDS are a national charity which has been supporting disabled children, young people and their families since 1970.

We work with children, irrespective of their disability, from birth through to 25 years.  Each year we support over 15,000 disabled children, offer over 120 different services and work with about 80 Local Authorities across England.

We are passionate, caring and trusted and our vision is a world in which all disabled children and young people realise their aspirations. We offer support and practical help for families, every step of the way.

About The Role

Are you a child at heart, and enjoy immersing yourself in play? Are you looking for every day to be a new adventure? Do you thrive working in a team? Look no further, we have the job for you.

As a sessional play worker, you will work as part of a team to deliver exciting, challenging, and fun sessions for disabled children and young people in a safe and stimulating environment. No two days are the same, we have a large pool of children and young people that use our service meaning there are constant challenges and surprises! You will encourage our children and young people to play adventurously, use their imagination, and make full use of the space and equipment at the playground.

There are many challenges to this job, but it is extremely rewarding and you will feel a sense of satisfaction at the end of each session. The work we do is very important for both our service users and their families – giving our children and young people the freedom to make choices, lead their play, and try new things, whilst their families receive some invaluable respite.

There is the potential to work a minimum of 11 hours and a maximum of 26 hours a week for the right worker. Our sessions are as follows:

  • Wednesday to Friday during term time – After school club, 3/3:30pm to 6:30/7pm
  • Saturday and Sunday during term time – Full day sessions, 9:30/10am to 5pm.
  • Monday to Friday/Saturday during school holidays – Playscheme, full day sessions, 9:30/10am to 5pm.

This is a sessional position offering flexibility in your working hours. We are looking for staff that can work at least 1 after school session and 1 weekend session, and a maximum of 3 after school sessions and 2 weekends.
