About KIDS

524KIDS is a national charity which has been supporting disabled children, young people and their families since 1970.

We work with children, irrespective of their disability, from birth through to 25 years. Each year we support over 15,000 disabled children, offer over 120 different services and work with about 80 Local Authorities across England.

About The Role

The overall purpose of this role is to work as a member of the Targeted Positive Activities team in Lincolnshire, supporting the provision of stimulating sessions for children and young people with a range of disabilities and some complex health needs.
Assistant Practitioners follow direction of the Senior Practitioner to work with the children and young people attending the Targeted Positive Activities sessions.
This role also includes:
• Working with children and young people, developing positive relationships with them and their families
• Actively participating in staff meetings, supervision sessions and training opportunities
• Maintaining excellent records for all your key children and young people ensuring that they celebrate children and young people’s experiences and contribute on to the sessions.
• Preparing resources and the physical environment to promote children and young people’s interests.
This is a part time role to support our Holiday Club which involves a 6hr day time sessions each Tuesday of the school holidays except Christmas week -12 sessions per year.  Pay is annualized and is the equivalent of 3.22 hours per week.

About You

To be able to carry out this role it is essential that you have the following characteristics:
  • Experience of working with disabled children, young people and their families
  • Understanding and knowledge of meeting the complex needs of disabled children.
  • Understanding and competence in safeguarding procedures
  • Understanding the importance of confidentiality and professional boundaries
