KIDS is a national charity which has been supporting disabled children, young people and families since 1970.
 
We work with children, irrespective of their disability or impairment, from birth through to 25 years.  Each year we support over 15,000 disabled children, offer over 120 different services and work with about 80 Local Authorities across England.
 
We are passionate, caring and trusted and our vision is a world in which all disabled children and young people realise their aspirations.  We offer support and practical help for families, every step of the way.
About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity within our team, we are recruiting for a:

Short Break Practitioner

  • This is a part time role with 22 hours per week - Monday - Thursday.
  • Includes a range of after school hours (an average short break is 3-4 hours) plus all day every Saturday
  • Providing short breaks for 6 children living across South Gloucestershire (areas include Downend, Frampton Cottrell, Kingswood, Thornbury)
  • The children you will be assisting require support to access activities within their local community and support them and their families at home.

About You

To be considered for this role it is essential that you have the following characteristics:

 
  • Educated to NVQ2 or equivalent in Childcare, Community work, Health, Education or Health and Social Care
  • Previous experience of supporting disabled children/young people is essential.
  • The ability to continually strive to deliver a high quality service that is responsive to family’s needs
  • A sound awareness and understanding of Safeguarding issues and confidence in working with the organizations Safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • You must be a car owner.
