About KIDS
KIDS is a national charity which has been supporting disabled children, young people and their families since 1970.
We work with children, irrespective of their disability or impairment, from birth through to 25 years.  Each year we support over 15,000 disabled children, offer over 120 different services and work with about 80 Local Authorities across England.
We are passionate, caring and trusted and our vision is a world in which all disabled children and young people realise their aspirations.  We offer support and practical help for families, every step of the way.
About The Role
The overall purpose of this role is:
  • To support with the development and running of a young people’s group for young people with special educational needs and disabilities with a specific focus on participation and advocacy, ensuring young people have an active role in making decisions.
  • Actively seek the views of young people through a wide range of creative methods and engaging them in the development of KIDS young peoples well-being group and wider KIDS services and enabling the sharing of good practice and policy development.
  • To support and encourage young people to actively participate in decision-making.
  • To plan, promote, deliver and evaluate workshops for young people.
About You
To be able to carry out this role it is essential that you have the following characteristics:
  • Educated to NVQ3 or equivalent in Youth Work or Health and Social Care
  • 2 years experience working with young people with SEND and their families
  • Knowledge and experience of using creative methods and models of working with young people.
  • The ability to lead and facilitate group work
  • The ability to collate and analyse information in order to continually strive to deliver a high quality service that is responsive to young people’s needs
