About KIDS

KIDS is a national charity which has been supporting disabled children, young people and their families since 1970. 

We work with children, irrespective of their disability or impairment, from birth through to 25 years.  Each year we support over 15,000 disabled children, offer over 120 different services and work with about 80 Local Authorities across England.  

We are passionate, caring and trusted and our vision is a world in which all disabled children and young people realise their aspirations. We offer support and practical help for families, every step of the way.

About The Role
As Young Peoples Worker you will be supporting a weekly well-being group for disabled young people age 14-25 in Stockport, 3.5 hours a week, offering flexible working hours during evenings, weekends and school holidays.
In this role you will be part of a team of permanent staff, casual workers and volunteers, supporting disabled children and young people with a wide range of special needs; severe learning difficulties, physical disabilities, emotional, behavioral difficulties and autism
The role includes being able:
  • To initiate, guide and facilitate creative play and social activities with young people .
  • We encourage the young people to participate in the well being group creatively and imaginatively, and to enable them to obtain the full benefit of the session.  
The hourly rate is £9.73 per hour plus you accrue an extra £1.17p per hour holiday pay.
About You
The successful candidate will need to:
  • Assist in maintaining the centre to the required standards of Health and Safety, including those of cleanliness and tidiness.
  • Undertake such other duties as become necessary from time to time.
  • To provide inclusive play opportunities
  • Assist with the care needs of young people: for example feeding, toileting and changing
