About KIDS

KIDS is a national charity which has been supporting disabled children, young people and their families since 1970. 

We work with children, irrespective of their disability or impairment, from birth through to 25 years.  Each year we support over 15,000 disabled children, offer over 120 different services and work with about 80 Local Authorities across England.  

We are passionate, caring and trusted and our vision is a world in which all disabled children and young people realise their aspirations. We offer support and practical help for families, every step of the way.

About The Role
The role of the Policy Officer is to enable KIDS to maintain an up-to-date library of policies and procedures in line with its legal, statutory and regulatory requirements and organisational values and ethics. This role is also critical in ensuring staff working for or on behalf of KIDS are able to perform their roles and deliver services safely, confidently and to the standard required

The Policy Officer will be line managed by the Head of Quality and Performance and support the implementation of KIDS quality and organisation resilience framework encompassing: Safeguarding, Health & Safety, Policy, Quality Assurance and Risk and Audit.

This is a sessional role of approx. 18 hours per week

About You

To be able to carry out this role we would expect you to have the following characteristics:
  • The person we are looking for will have experience working in a policy/ compliance role, understand quality and compliance with health and social care or education setting and be able to work with a wide range of people and levels within an organisation.

  • Knowledge of CQC and Ofsted regulatory requirements/legislation/guidance and best practice

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

  • Experience of writing policies and procedures and staff guidance – desirable
