KIDS is a national charity which has been supporting disabled children, young people and their families since 1970. 

We work with children, irrespective of their disability or impairment, from birth through to 25 years.  Each year we support over 15,000 disabled children, offer over 120 different services and work with about 80 Local Authorities across England.

About The Role

Are you a Driver with a D1 on your Licence? Are you looking for fun, flexible work that makes a real difference to the lives of disabled children and young people?

At our Adventure Playground for Children with special needs we are looking for Driver/Playworker for:

  • Term time Tuesday to Friday After School Clubs drop offs
  • Wednesday evening Youth Club drop offs
  • Term time Saturday morning and afternoon pick-ups and drop offs
  • Possibility of Sunday pick-ups and drop offs
  • Play scheme holiday pick-up and drop offs

You will work as part of a team supporting the provision of an exciting and challenging programme of activities in a stimulating play environment. Children/young people attend with a range of disabilities and additional needs such as autism, behavioural, learning and emotional difficulties. Training is provided and the role is suitable for people who may have never have driven a minibus before.

 

Hours for this post will vary but we ideally require a commitment of at least 2 after school club sessions a week and every other Saturday during term time.

The hourly rate is £10.75 per hour plus £1.20 per hour to include holiday pay.

About You

To be able to carry out this role it is essential that you have the following:

 
  • D1 entitlement on your driving licence, (experience and training driving a minibus can be provided).
  • Willingness to transport young people and play workers to various activities as needed.
  • Ability to listen, reflect and communicate appropriately and effectively with service users and colleagues.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Educated to GCSE level or hold relevant NVQ level 2.
